Optimal diet

Optimal diet for pigs #

An optimal feed ration is a diet that allows your animal to gain the maximum possible weight and at the same time produce the maximum amount of manure.

Pigs aged 1 to 30 days #

Animals aged 1 to 30 days (inclusive) are considered young animals. They gradually and evenly increase the intake of all types of feed - from the minimum amount of each type of feed on the first day to the maximum amount indicated in the table on the last day.

The weight gain of animals also increases proportionally - from the minimum value on the first day to the maximum value on the last day of this age period. Provided the animals receive the optimal feed ration, the sow and boar will gain weight from 0.1 kg on the first day to 6 kg on the last day of this age period.

Provided the animals receive this optimal feed ration, sows and boars will increase their weight by 0.5 kg daily.

Pigs aged 351 to 380 days #

Animals between 351 and 380 days old (inclusive) are considered old. They gradually and evenly reduce the intake of all types of feed from the maximum amount indicated in the table on the 351st day, to the minimum amount of each type of feed on the 380th day.

Animals at this age no longer gain weight. They cannot mate, play sports, and cannot be cut for meat or bacon. However, if the sow managed to successfully mate with a boar before reaching the age of 351 days, then she will carry and give birth to the offspring as usual (within the total lifespan of the animal, which is 380 days).

It is important to remember that at this age animals not only do not gain weight, but also do not lose it, even if they remain hungry. Old animals can easily survive on pasture. You don’t have to feed them to keep them alive. However, if they are not fed, they will stop producing manure and the gestation period will increase.
