Stages of settlement development#

A settlement in the land of clones is a part of the principality’s territory, controlled by a single clone. It develops in stages: estate → village → city → metropolis. Level advancement depends on population size, production development, and the owner’s status. Each new level unlocks additional opportunities and bonuses.
Development levels#
There are four levels of settlement development: estate, village, city, and metropolis. Progression occurs in a strictly sequential manner. The ability to improve depends on the social status of the clone owner.
- The estate is available to the peasant.
- The village is accessible to the bourgeoisie.
- The city is accessible to the merchant.
- The metropolis is accessible to a nobleman.
As the level increases, production at factories increases. Starting with a village, a settlement can have subordinate settlements of lower levels.
How to increase the level of settlement development#
To increase the level you need to:
- Develop all production facilities to level IV.
- Meet the requirements for resources, population and owner status.
Table: Level-up Costs
| Cost/Level | Estate → Village | Village → City | City → Megacity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Powder loading | - | - | 50,000 |
| Black Pearl | 20,000 | 40,000 | 100,000 |
| Golden egg | 4 | 10 | 25 |
| Silver egg | 8 | 20 | 50 |
| Elixirs | - | - | 50 |
| Prudence | 50 | 80 | 120 |
| Charisma | 50 | 80 | 120 |
When leveling up, prudence and charisma are consumed immediately.
Table. Conditions for increasing the settlement level
| Transition | Owner status | Population | Additionally |
|---|---|---|---|
| Estate → Village | Bourgeois | 50+ | — |
| Village → City | Merchant | 500+ | 10 subsidiary estates |
| City → Megacity | Nobleman | 1000+ | 10 subsidiary villages |
Only residents of the settlement itself and its direct subordinates are counted. Residents of lower levels, subordinated through the chain, are not counted.
Increasing the level is done manually on the “Development Level” page (“Investor” → “Urban Development” → “Your Settlement” → “Development Level”).
Special cases#
- If the settlement level has become higher than the level of the superior one, it is necessary to choose another settlement of a higher level in the same principality or leave the subordination.
- If a settlement had no subordination and there are more developed settlements in the principality, it is obliged to submit to one of them.
Megapolis - maximum level#
The Megapolis is the highest stage of settlement development. It ensures maximum efficiency in resource production and processing. A Megapolis with fully developed industries is necessary for achieving Emperor status.
