Security of the settlement treasury#

The settlement’s treasury, which accumulates over the course of a day, is subject to bandit attacks and requires guard protection. Detailed mechanics are described in the “Security Guard” and “Thieves’ Gang” sections.
The military department can additionally reward guards who have distinguished themselves in battle by giving them a rare resource - black pearls.
Recruitment and dismissal of security guards#
Clones with the artisan status or higher are eligible to apply for security guard positions. The settlement owner sets requirements for candidates, including military skill level and weapon type, and then approves or rejects submitted applications. Applications can be viewed on the “Defense” page (Investor → “Urban Development” → “Defense”). Security effectiveness depends on the guards’ weapons, military knowledge, initiative, and military ranks. If a gang’s stats are higher, an attack may be successful. To simplify recruitment, you can enable automatic application acceptance. You can also enroll your own clones, including the settlement owner, in the “Your Clones” section. Only armed clones not assigned to other groups are included in the list of available clones.
Guards provide their own weapons, ammunition, and potions. Automatic use of health potions can be configured in the “Management” section. Clones with health below 10 or with negative stamina do not participate in battles. A guard can be dismissed at any time. A reapply is available after 24 hours.
Gang attacks#
The number of guards and the maximum size of an attacking gang depend on the type of settlement.

Each settlement can be attacked no more than three times in any 24-hour period, the start of which is determined individually.
When attacking, the gang brings with them a sum equal to 50% of the current treasury. If the defense is successful, this sum becomes the ransom.
Distribution of ransom:
- 20% goes to the owner of the settlement.
- 80% is distributed among the guards in proportion to their knowledge of military affairs, taking into account their military ranks.
To increase defense, you can build defensive systems using black pearls. Completely eliminating attacks is achieved by developing social policies and activating the “Not available for gang attacks” setting.
